Posted on 2025-11-10 D1000 Dice Table For Naming Hounds This was my gaming project for today. A D1000 Dice Table! It started when browsing Mastodon and I found a list of 1065 medieval dog names from The Names Of All Manner Of Hounds, a genuine Medieval book. Quantity is a quality of itself and I immediately latched onto the idea of a D1000 Dice Table. I mean, it is a bit over the top, and nothing catches my interest like Over The Top. To roll a D100 or percentile dice you roll the digit die numbered 0-9 and the tens place die numbered from 00-90. Add them together and all zeros is 100. To roll a D1000 die at another ten sider (either type) of a different color. That is you hundreds die. All zeros is 1000. Imagine that. All zeroes! What are the odds? One in a thousand, of course. You can use the pngs if you want. I have a pdf derived from a Libre Office Write document. I can print these duplex so all one thousand names fit on both sides of two pages. I am working on getting it up at https://DriveThryRPG.com Here's the PDF on Mega. https://mega.nz/file/3Ylj0AwT#1rkoxw9e3CxI-oK1rWwzKQ8KYMd6pYAXyOFuOkxVy-E Be sure to click for more pictures. You might want to right click the image and open in another tab. Go to that tab and click the pic to embigify. Everything used in this project is public domain and so is the four page printout. Have fun naming your dogs.
